Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Residents of Megan’s House enjoyed a fun filled night Monday, thanks to the generosity of another fine local organization.
The Lowell Spinners baseball club, a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, welcomed Megan’s House to LeLacheur Park with complimentary tickets to their game against the Tri-City Valley Cats. The group outing also included a free hot dog and soda for the residents, who took to their seats in the stands and added to the already festive atmosphere at the ballpark.
At various points of the game, the young women could be seen cheering on the Spinners, while also leading the crowd with rhythmic clapping and food stomping. Similar to their experience at the circus over the Spring, the group field trip was a welcomed change from the hard work the residents put in as part of the Megan House recovery program.
The Spinners were also kind enough to provide the Megan House Foundation with a display table in a highly visible location on the concourse at LeLacheur Park. Those entering the stadium were provided information and pamphlets about Megan’s House by Board members staffing the display table.
Fans also purchased 50-50 raffle tickets, helping raise money for our mission. Many were already familiar with the cause and eager to contribute in any way they could. Others learned of Megan’s House for the first time and seemed impressed with the work going on there to combat addiction issues.
The Megan House Foundation would like to thank the Spinners for their hospitality and their generosity. Efforts like these are a vital part of what we do at Megan’s House and the gestures are especially appreciated by the young women who live there.
