A Dream House & A Doll House
As we continue to count down the hours to the Megan’s House: Where Dreams Come Home Raffle, we also continue to add more prizes to the drawing.
A few days ago we announced that local company iRobot donated a Roomba 980 as a raffle prize. Now we can announce a local woman has generously offered to create a New Orleans style doll house for the raffle. And she’s going to do so using Megan’s favorite color; purple.
Judy Biggs, of Judy Biggs Miniatures, has been creating miniature doll houses for over 25 years. Her inspiration came when, during a family move, she and her sister lost a metal doll house they absolutely adored. When asked what she wanted as a 50th birthday present by her husband, Judy reached back into her childhood and asked for a doll house. Since then, she’s crafted over 80 doll house vignettes.
The Tyngsboro, Massachusetts resident attends to every detail for each house, often making her own furniture kids, typically in 1” scale. Most days, you can find Judy in her studio cross stitching or quilting bed spreads or braiding rugs for her tiny treasures.
No detail goes unnoticed, from the color palettes, to the light fixtures, to decorated walls. She sets the dining rooms right down to the tiniest little detail of food on the table, and even fills the miniature homes with cats and dogs.
Well respected in her craft, Judy participates in shows and even won second place in the Tiny Treasurer’s Society Exhibit for her Halloween themed doll house.
Judy’s generous contribution to the Megan’s House: Where Dreams Come Home Raffle brings the total number of prizes to three, and we still have one more big announcement coming in that regard.
Of course, the biggest announcement is yet to come; when tickets for the raffle go on sale.
All we’ll tell you for now is to check back on our website and social media sites periodically in the next couple of days. Or, if you’d like us to make it easy for you, click here to register and we’ll notify you the instant tickets are available.
