A “Suite” Night for Young Women in Recovery
As they did last year, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union of Lowell welcomed Megan’s House to their private suite for a UMass-Lowell Hockey game at the Tsongas Center on Friday night, December 8th.
Bank President Mark Cochran and staff celebrated a thrilling 3-2 River Hawks win with the young women who call Megan’s House home, treating them to a tasty, catered buffet to go along with their luxury view. Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, an ardent supporter of Megan’s House, also stopped in to say hello.
The highlight of the evening came when Cochran’s wife, Kathy, handed out Christmas presents to the residents, prompting one young woman to throw her arms around her in a grateful hug and reveal “I haven’t had a Christmas present in so long.”
Evenings like this are an integral part of recovery, offering the opportunity to enjoy events in a culture of sobriety. The generosity of families like the Cochrans and organizations like Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union goes a long way toward helping us fulfill our mission of making a difference in the lives of these young women.
