Where Are They Now – Casey
My name is Casey and I’m an addict.
I currently have 15 months clean and sober, and live a pretty simple life today. I work full time and am in school part time. I work a program of recovery to the best of my ability and am a productive member of society today. Although these seem like simple, easily achievable goals for any regular person, for an addict or alcoholic it can be so much more unattainable than you think.
My life is simple today because my years of using were complete chaos mentally, physically, and spiritually. I will always advocate and tell people how much Megan’s house and Erin’s helped save my life because they are so much more than just programs.
The staff at both places are both so invested and proactive about recovery and living a healthy life. Megan’s House taught me confidence and self respect which was something I’ve never had before. They supported me through a lot of tough work emotionally and taught me how to be a productive member of society and use healthy coping skills. I come from a family of addicts and I was able to slowly but surely break that cycle.
Although I graduated that house almost three years ago, I still see Kim for therapy and spend a lot of time there because that house and their staff has become such a healthy support system for me and has created a safe space for me to go on the holidays. These women are truly invested in what they do and I couldn’t be more thankful for the life they’ve helped me create today.
