99+1 = A Milestone
This week produced a major milestone for Megan’s House; the graduation of our 100th resident from the program!
Like the 99 who came before her, this amazing young woman’s journey through recovery features the typical fall to rock bottom, the decision to finally take control of her life away from substance, arrival at Megan’s House, hard work and dedication in collaboration with staff and fellow residents, the building of a recovery network, and ultimately, the transition into a productive life in recovery.
And while this young woman’s success story is as moving as all the others we’ve told before, in the interest of protecting her privacy, we are unfortunately unable to share it with you. To mention even a first name or the unique circumstances that brought her to Megan’s House would make her too easily identifiable, and that is a risk we simply cannot take. Suffice it to say, graduate number 100 is a fitting story for such an important day for our organization.
The one thing we can share with you is what she left behind. It’s a tradition that began with the very first resident to complete the program and continues right on through today. Each young woman, upon her graduation, leaves behind a “square” depicting what recovery means to her. At times it’s just words, at others a drawing. Sometimes it’s a combination of both. At all times, it’s an incredibly moving reminder of where each began and how far they have come.
To our 100th graduate, we say congratulations and thank you for allowing Megan’s House to be a part of your journey. And to the 99 who came before her, we thank you for your part in getting to such an important milestone.
Together, we make a difference!
